BEIJING - Local governments were told on Wednesday to make efficient use of the findings of the ongoing second national agricultural survey and conduct systematic analysis of rural problems, so as to better guide work related to farming and rural areas.

The order came from an executive meeting of the State Council, the cabinet.

Presiding over the meeting, Premier Wen Jiabao heard reports about the survey, which has been in progress for nearly three years.

According to the meeting, the survey covered more than 650,000 villages and nearly 230 million households. It collected data on agricultural production, the rural labor force and rural employment, living conditions of rural residents and the environment of rural communities.
