HANGJIN BANNER, Inner Mongolia - The collapsed section in the bank of the Yellow River had been patched up Sunday morning, three days after the flooding occurred in Hangjin Banner, North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Ordos Mayor Du Zi said the 60-meter section was closed by more than 1,000 people at 2:30 a.m. Workers will begin to repair the other collapsed section, measuring about 100 meters, on Sunday.

More than 10,000 people on the southern bank of the Yellow River, the second longest in China, were evacuated from their homes to the Kubuqi desert, around 10 kilometers from the town, on Thursday night.

The embankment had been near danger levels since the ice began to thaw, with only 50 centimeters between the water and the top of the embankment.

No casualties have been reported.
