VIENTIANE -- Premier Wen Jiabao said Sunday that the door to talks with the Dalai Lama remains open.

It is very important to clearly see the character of the event - a crime that violates Chinese law, and the victims include Tibetan compatriots, he said.

As long as the Dalai Lama recognizes that Tibet is an inseparable part of Chinese territory, talks can begin, Wen said on the sidelines of the Greater Mekong Subregion Summit, adding that the situation in Tibet is stable.
