Tibetan separatists living in exile persuaded the Dalai Lama to stay in India and lead the separatist movement when he attended the Buddhism ceremony in 1956. However, after three conversations with Premier Zhou Enlai, the Dalai Lama decided to return to Tibet in 1957.
