China Daily, the country's only national English language newspaper, opened its Henan bureau in the provincial capital of Zhengzhou Monday.
The newspaper also launched its seventh, or Central China, printing center.
The latest developments are part of the paper's strategy to extend its local reach and coverage with a timely and first-hand approach to news - moving it closer to fulfilling its goal of "national coverage combined with an international perspective".
Kang Bing, China Daily deputy editor-in-chief and Liu Shaoyu, deputy publicity chief of Henan province, attended the bureau's opening ceremony.
"Henan is the most populous province and a leading agricultural center, possessing unique historical and cultural resources," Kang said.
He also stressed the importance of exploring human-interest stories in the province.
