Quake kills 1,500 in Mianzhu, 10,000 buried

MIANZHU - Monday's earthquake has taken 1,500 tolls in Mianzhu city, southwest China's Sichuan Province, and at least 10,000 people remain buried, the local government confirmed.

Mianzhu is one of the regions that suffered the most from Monday's quake, which measured 7.8 on the Richter scale.

A few minutes before the strong quake, the Sichuan provincial seismological bureau detected a moderate one measuring 5.4 in Mianzhu.
