Beijing -- James C.Y. Soong, chairman of the People First Party in Taiwan, sent a message to President Hu Jintao on Monday, expressing condolences over the earthquake that jolted Sichuan.
"Upon hearing that Sichuan Province was hit by an unprecedented severe earthquake, and both the country and the people are suffering great losses, people across the Taiwan Straits are connected like flesh and blood and share both weal and woe, James C.Y. Soong hereby expresses the deepest concern," reads the message.
"Your honor has carried out well-thought-out plans and commands in the face of the disaster. Premier Wen has also headed for the disaster-hit area and devoted himself to the disaster-relief work.
