CHENGDU -- No foreigners have been reported dead in the May 12 destructive quake in southwest China's Sichuan Province, local authorities said Saturday.
The Sichuan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office said that as of 10 a.m. Friday, some 454 foreigners from 21 countries were rescued and transferred to safe places in the quake zone or adjacent areas.
Two German citizens were injured when they were rescued, it said.
The office said emergency rescue work for overseas people in Sichuan's quake-hit areas was immediately carried out after the quake, ensuring the safety of lives of foreigners.
The 8.0-magnitude quake, which was centered in Wenchuan County, had left 60,560 dead nationwide as of Saturday noon, according to the Information Office of the State Council.
