Climate change talks roll out draft documents

Copenhagen: China's chief negotiator Su Wei expects much pressure for next week's negotiations for a successful outcome of the United Nations Climate Change Conference.

Two important UN draft texts about long-term cooperation action (LCA) and the Kyoto Protocol, which are going to be the outcome of the two-week UN climate change conference, started to circulate among the delegations Friday in the capital of Denmark.

The two documents cover the two separate tracks of negotiations -- the Kyoto Protocol track, which does not include the US，and the Long-term Cooperative Action track which includes the US -- reflect two years of official negotiations.

"It is the results of one-week tough negotiations, despite disparities among varied interests groups," said Su Wei, chief negotiator and deputy director of the Chinese delegation.

"In the next few days, talks will heavily focus on amending and finalizing the draft texts, which will be presented to country leaders," he said. "Meanwhile, with the summit meeting to be held at the end of next week, party members will take much pressure during talks. The Chinese delegation expects a successful outcome in Copenhagen."
