The China Pavilion on April 22 received its largest ever donation - 100 million yuan (US$14.6 miilion) - from Cheung Kong (Holdings) Ltd and Hutchison Whampoa Ltd, both headed by Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing.

This is the largest donation for the grand structure since official donations were opened in late 2007.

The Shanghai Party Secretary Yu Zhengsheng on April 22 expressed his gratitude to Li and his corporations when he met Victor Li Tzar-kuoi, son of Li Ka-shing and the deputy chairman and managing director of Cheung Kong. He also serves as the deputy chairman of Hutchison Whampoa.

Victor Li said Cheung Kong and Hutchison Whampoa are honored to support the Expo by making donations. They will continue contributing to the event, he said.
