A delegation of Japanese corporations on March 9 signed a pavilion-building contract with the Expo organizer in Beijing.

The pavilion is one of 16 corporate pavilions for the Expo. It will be built in a 4,000-square-meter old factory at the Jiangnan Shipyard in the Puxi section of the Expo site. The theme will be "Better Life from Japan," echoing the "Better City, Better Life" Expo theme.

Fourteen Japanese corporations will finance the pavilion. Some regional Japanese governments will also contribute.

There have been no changes in the planning and preparations for the pavilion despite the current financial climate, Taichi Sakaiya, a representative of the pavilion, said. He said another three Japanese corporations were expected to contribute.
