Shanghai Party Secretary Yu Zhengsheng and other city government officials yesterday held talks with their Beijing counterparts to share the capital's experience in hosting grand events.

Yu said that Shanghai would learn from Beijing's practice in boosting economic and social development, particularly its experience in hosting the Olympics, during his meeting with Liu Qi, Beijing Party Secretary, and other government officials of Beijing.

He noted that Beijing and Shanghai had witnessed close cooperation in a wide range of fields such as economy, science and technology as well as culture and education, and such friendship was enforced year on year.

The visit would help further strengthen the friendship and understanding between the two sides and promote their exchange and cooperation in various areas, Yu added.

Liu said Beijing would take an active part in the Expo’s preparation and support Shanghai's efforts in hosting a successful, splendid and unforgettable event.
