The Urban Best Practices Area (UBPA), one of the biggest innovations by Shanghai World Expo, will have the collections of all the endeavors of human beings, said a Shanghai Expo organizer during an online interview with Xinhuanet Wednesday.
China has achieved a great deal so far and looks forward to even greater progress, especially after it has emerged as an important member of the Group of 20 and will inevitably play a leading role in the world economy for decades to come.
Samuel Chao Chung Ting was born in 1936 in the US state of Michigan, but his ancestry is rooted in China's Shandong Province. In 1976, Ting and Burton Richter shared the Nobel Prize in Physics for their discovery of a meson nuclear particle. Ting was named an Honorary Professor by the University of Science and Technology of China, and he is also a member of the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Ting is the principal investigator for the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer project, which is scheduled to be installed on the International Space Station in 2010.
Wu Liangyong, born in 1922, is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering and is a professor in the Department of Architecture at Tsinghua University.
Fan Jinshi, born in 1938 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, graduated from Peking University in 1963.
World Expo 2010 Shanghai China will raise the curtain in May on a six-month attraction to dazzle the world. More than 200 countries and regions will exhibit the splendor of their distinctive cultures and pioneering ideas. The towering red-domed China Pavilion will showcase the beautiful landscapes of our country, the brilliance of Chinese culture and the evolution of our social progress. It will be a golden opportunity for residents in Shanghai, the Yangtze River Delta and all other parts of China to enjoy a global pageant without traveling overseas.
Needless to say, the Shanghai-Disney story, which earned a lot of headline space last fall and has sometimes been in the news more recently (late last month, for example, when a plan to build some budget housing near the site was announced), is one that I've been following with great interest.

Local governments have expanded their responsibility on issues with global outreach. Improving quality of life in urban centers implies, more and more, contributing to a better quality of life in the whole world. World Expo 2010 Shanghai shall be the greatest stage in recent years to exchange successful experiences, bringing excellent opportunities for cities.
As Shanghai plays host to World Expo 2010, the eyes of the world will be focused on this great city. Such publicity will give Dunedin, New Zealand, particular pleasure.
The Great Britain's investment to the Shanghai Expo is "worthwhile", and it wanted to contribute to the success of the world's largest ever expo.
