LANZHOU - Five primary school children were among eight people who died Friday in a three-vehicle highway crash in northwest China's Gansu province.
The accident happened around 10:30 am when the driver of a tractor-trailer lost control of his vehicle and collided with two minibuses that were stopped in a traffic lane on Highway G30 in Taoshuping township of Lanzhou city, the provincial capital, said a spokesman with the provincial public security department.
Five students of Wencheng Primary School, Yuzhong county, on a minibus died at the scene along with three passengers on the other minibus, said the spokesman.
Three injured people were taken to hospital, but their injuries were not life-threatening, he said.
The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
