Corrupt local official gets suspended death penalty

A former high-ranking provincial official was sentenced to death with two years' reprieve by the Tianjin No 1 Intermediate People's Court on Friday, xinhuanew.com reported.

Mi Fengjun, the former vice chairman of the Standing Committee of People's Congress of Jilin Province, was convicted of embezzling 6.28 million yuan (US$919,392). All his personal properties have been confiscated.
