Peking University ranks the top in producing China's richest according to the "2010 Chinese Billionaire Research Report", a survey conducted by the Chinese University Alumni Association, the Beijing Daily reports Wednesday.
The survey collected statistics from a series of influential lists of the top richest people over the decade since 1999, and found 63 billionairs are from Peking university, with total assets of 139 billion yuan (about US$20.36 billion).
Tsinghua University ranks the second with 54 graduates on the list; Zhejiang University placed the third, training 53 billionaires. Fudan Univisity, China Renmin University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University are included in the top six.
Contrary to public assumption, billionaires who had overseas education were few. For the number of billionaires whose assets were over 10 billion yuan (US$1.465 billion), the ratio of overseas to local were 11 to 39, according to the survey.
