5.3-magnitude earthquake jolts northeast Taiwan

TAIPEI - An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale jolted Taiwan's Yilan city at 9:03 pm local time on Sunday, local authorities said.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located at 24.11 degrees north latitude, and 122.34 degrees east longitude, at a depth of about 15.4 kilometers.

No instant report of casualties is available.
