5 workers die after chemical accident in NE China

HARBIN - A chemical accident killed five workers Friday at an industrial zone in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, local authorities said Saturday.

Eight workers were hospitalized after the accident at the Leather Industrial Zone in Zhaoyuan County, Daqing City.

Five of the workers died in hospital. The three others are in stable conditions.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
