The reason why the committee awarded the prize to Liu Xiaobo was, as it announced, that he had long been fighting for basic human rights in China in a non-violent way. It also said they believe the human rights and peace are closely related. In recent years, Liu Xiaobo made up a series of essays expressing his opinion in denying the nation's political power and socialist system with libelous language on the one hand, and on the other hand, openly organized and encouraged others to organize online signing activities to denounce and subvert the existing state power. His so-called "human rights fight", which is aimed at subverting existing political power and system and practicing West-style democratic system, violated China's Constitution and other laws. It was both clear evidence for his convicted crime of "agitation aimed at subverting the government" and the major reason why he won the prize. Besides the Dalai and Liu Xiaobo, Rebiya, Hu Jia and Wei Jingsheng all entered the candidates list of the prize. One can easily find out the choice of Liu Xiaobo for the prize was again the reflection of the vicious attempt by the West to interfere in China's political affairs and its progress, and another planned, pre-emptive event that continues their aim of westernizing and polarizing China.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee blamed China in its restrictions on freedom of speech while awarding the prize to Liu Xiaobo. As a matter of fact, the "freedom of speech" is in any country limited to some extent. For example, in Germany's criminal law, the Article 90 b stipulates the crime of slandering the constitution against the legislature; in Italy's criminal law, the Article 243 stipulates the crime of insulting political, administrative or judicial organs; in Singapore's criminal law, the Article 505 stipulates the crime of agitating anti-government activities or activities against public peace and order. In Western countries, criminal sentences involving agitation occurs from time to time. After the Schenck v. United States case, the Supreme Court decided a defendant did not have a First Amendment right to free speech against the draft during World War I; and after the Abrams v. United States case, an appeal to violence against the US government as opposed to peaceful change was made a criminal offence. One may even be considered committing a crime when publicizing opinions threatening others especially the States' leaders. Freedom of speech in the US is also ensured based on protecting its existing political system and social stability. The Norwegian committee is obviously not promoting "absolute right to free speech" and "violation of the Constitution and laws", but praising Liu's attacks on the Chinese Communist Party, the state power and socialist system, and in the final analysis, selling Western-style democracy and values.
Repeated blame on China via the Nobel Peace Prize reflects deep-rooted fear from the West on China's rise. In recent years, China witnessed rapid development in comprehensive national strength, powerful economic growth and a stable general society, while the US and most European countries lack strength in economic recovery and lose their confidence faced with a stronger China. The West doesn't want to see a strong China both large and successful in many ways to have a political system different from the West. Using a series of events during the Beijing Olympics, on March 14, 2008 in Lhasa, on July 5, 2009 in Urumqi, from the Google retreat incident to the Diaoyu Islands conflicts, the US and other countries, faced with fruitless efforts in "transforming" China with all kinds of pressure, take up again the political tool of the Nobel Peace Prize, in an attempt to back anti-Socialism forces and depend on them to continue making trouble in China and stirring up a new anti-China wave. Those who assess and manipulate the prize hold a vicious hope that by making the prize as a breakthrough China will end in endless conflicts due to political divisions and in the end they can realize their purpose of defeating China to collapse.
Massive facts prove that these attempts by Western anti-China forces will end in vain. The road of socialism with Chinese characteristics is a rightful choice by history and the people can be tested by both time and practice. We can only take the path of socialism, otherwise we will lose our position and fall under others' subjection. The act of using the Nobel Peace Prize to pressure China reflects a grim situation China faces right now to fight against westernization and polarization. We need to be sober enough to tell right from wrong and keep cautious. It's inevitable to come across some obstacles on the road. As long as we keep in the right direction with a determined faith and a tranquil and united mentality, we can hold firm the helm and have spaces to both advance and retreat against the backdrop of a complex international situation and build China into a prosperous, democratic, civilized and harmonious modernized socialist country and achieve grand revitalization of the Chinese nation together with the progress of other countries in the world.
