ZHENGZHOU - Water supply for 800,000 residents in central China city Zhengzhou basically resumed Thursday, one day after a burst pipe disrupted supply.

A major pipe burst at the plant Wednesday morning, with a 10-meter section of the pipeline damaged. The plant is using standby facilities to supply water.
"It will take another 72 hours to fix the damage," a spokesman said.
The damaged section of the pipe was built in 1976 and so it is old, he added.
The pipe ran through a highway intersection, and the plant had been working with authorities to change the route of the pipe section, he said.
