A man whose wife and son were abducted 12 years ago from Chengdu, Sichuan province met them again in Shanxi province on Nov 19, the West China Metropolitan News reported Tuesday.
Yi Gangjiu, who lives in Jintang county of Chengdu city, Sichuan province and works in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, had been trying to find his lost wife and son for 12 years.
He came across Qin Haizhou, an acquaintance who was suspected of abducting his wife and son, on a local market in his hometown in August 2010. Yi pushed Qin into admitting that Qin had abducted Yi's wife and son, and then the local police began an investigation.
On Nov 14, Yi received a message from the police that his wife and son were living in Yuncheng, Shanxi province, and met them in the evening of Nov 19.
They burst into tears and took photos together.
Yi's son is now a top student in a high school. Yi said that he would not force him to go back to Sichuan, because his son was doing so well in Shanxi, though he was sad about this decision.
Yi met his wife's current husband and said that he does not hate him but feels grateful that he had been taking good care of his wife and son for 12 years.
Yi said the man agreed that Yi's wife and son had the right to go back to Sichuan if they wanted to.
Yi brought the photos of his family to his parents and his mother-in-law, who are eager to see them again.
