SHANGHAI - Jumeirah Group, a Dubai-based luxury hotel company, signed a management agreement with Hangzhou-based Liuhe Group on Thursday to operate the Jumeirah Thousand Islands Lake Resort in Qiandaohu, Zhejiang province.

The resort, currently under development, is expected to open in 2014, said Gerald Lawless, executive chairman of Jumeirah Group.

The resort, 135 kilometers away from Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang province, will be surrounded by lush forests and beautiful lakeside views, with an 89-room luxury hotel and villas with 50 rooms.

"The move is part of Jumeirah's expansion strategy in China," said Lawless.

Jumeirah Group has completed five management agreements in China to manage hotels and resorts in Guangzhou of Guangdong province, Hangzhou of Zhejiang province, Sanya of Hainan province, Macau and Shanghai. This new agreement has brought the total to six in China, he said.
