Pavilion reveals best photos for October

Shanghai Corporate Pavilion has revealed 12 best photos for its photo contest in October.

The monthly theme for October's solicitation was "festivals". Since the event was initiated in August, it has received 5,623 photo entries, including people, buildings and nature scenes.

The top award of last month went to a photo showing a mother bathing her baby in a Shanghai lane from Elke Martini, a German photography fan living in Shanghai for nearly five years. The photo was shot while she came across the scene through a wall hole in the lane on Julu Road. Later Martini gave the photo to the mother.

Local photography fan Liu Dingxun also made the top 12 list with a picture depicting his son’s naive eyes.

"I am emotionally attached to this photo. I added a caption and some descriptions to it. I liked it so much that I ended up being reluctant to upload the picture," Liu said.

To produce a good entry to the contest, Liu wandered Shanghai streets more than 10 hours a day to shoot photos despite his bad health condition.

The solicitation theme for November is "communications". Photos could be uploaded to http://www.expo2010scp.com. The whole contest will last through next April. Awards for every month include 10 best awards with a standard Expo one-day ticket for each and 10 creative awards with a LOMO underwater cameras for each.
