Macao chief to attend opening ceremony of Expo

MACAO - Chief Executive of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Chui Sai On will attend the opening ceremony of the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai at the invitation of the Shanghai municipal government, the SAR government announce Wednesday.

In addition to attending the Shanghai Expo opening ceremony on May 1, Chui will also preside over the opening ceremony of the Macao Pavilion at the Expo, according to a press release from the government. Chui and a delegate of SAR officials will depart for Shanghai on April 30 and will return on May 3.

Meanwhile, the SAR chief executive will also visit several cities in Jiangsu, an eastern province of China, which borders the Shanghai municipality, and meet with major government officials there.

The SAR Secretary for Economy and Finance, Tam Pak Yuen, along with other officials will accompany Chui on his trip to Shanghai and Jiangsu.
