Singapore's Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew delivered a speech at the Communist Party of China’s Pudong Cadre College in Shanghai May 14 evening. Li Yuanchao, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met with him before the speech.

Lee said Singapore has a population of 4 million people while China has 1.3 billion. Now many Chinese are learning in Singapore. With China’s rapid development, Singapore would send people here to study in about 30 or 50 years. He said he hoped the two countries would expand communications and cooperation in various fields.
Li, also president of the college, hailed the development of Sino-Singaporean tie since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1990.
Then Lee delivered a speech on Expo Shanghai. He answered questions and communicated with the audience over 1 hour after the speech.
Lee Kuan Yew is scheduled to visit Singapore Pavilion in Expo Site today.
