High temperatures continued Sunday, and a thunderstorm dumped torrential rain in the afternoon.
A yellow wind alert, the third lowest on a four-scale system, and a yellow thunder alert, the second highest on the three-level system, were raised at 4pm. Tips were timely distributed via display panels and radio broadcast within the site.
Among yesterday's visitors, 116,000 were on tour groups. A total of 45,353 tickets were sold on site, with 14,660 night admissions.
Five health clinics treated 427 visitors by 4pm, with 47 minor injuries and 60 heatstroke sufferers.
Houtan Gate received about 66,000 visitors, Changqing Road 56,000, Shangnan Road and Gaoke Road W. 112,000 in total.
A total of 70 shows were staged by 5pm, attracting 57,700 spectators. 8,139 volunteers served on the site.
The site was estimated to receive 170,000-plus group visitors today. Individual tourists are advised to enter from less crowded Madang Rd, Shangnan Rd, or Bansongyuan Rd entrances during 9 to 11am rush hours.
In terms of service, the service station for precious metals and gems located between the Israel Pavilion and the Turkmenistan Pavilion in Zone A provides free consultations, where visitors can assay the precious items they purchase.
