The Spain Pavilion greeted its 4 millionth visitor, a 81-year-old woman from Hong Kong, with a bouquet of flowers and a gift pack on Sunday, July 31, 2010.
The old lady surnamed Wong entered the pavilion through a green path for the aged and disabled. She said she had heard about favorable comments about the Spain Pavilion and made sure to see it on her Expo tour.
Besides World Expo, Wong was also eager to see Shanghai where she was born and brought up. "Shanghai is very different from what it used to be. I don't recognize it, but the city has become more beautiful," she said.
The Spain Pavilion, resembling a wicker basket, receives nearly 40,000 visitors a day.
Spain's Commissioner General for Expo Shanghai, Maria Tenawe, said they had opened the green path for senior people and those physically challenged to give them have a good experience in the pavilion.
