Mexico City is presenting an image of a vigorous city with sound investment environment, a center of innovation and creativity, and a tourist destination with rich heritage and diverse culture during a two-week exhibition at the Mexico Pavilion.
The exhibition highlights the city's efforts in improving the environment and people's living and also displays the city's traditional crafts, fashion, culture and gastronomy.
Musicians from the Mexican Institute of Sound will perform outside the pavilion at this weekend and designer Carla Fernandez will present his latest collections at the pavilion on September 15.
Both MIS band and Carla Fernandez represent the success stories of creative young Mexicans. The band has participated in numerous big music festivals around the world, and Carla Fernandez was recently awarded the Best Young Entrepreneur by the British Council.
A delegation led by Felipe Leal, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development of the Mexico City, will hold discussions with their Chinese counterparts on topics from public transportation to low-carbon architecture.
A film about the daily life of Mexicans and Mexico City's pursuit of a better environment was screened on Wednesday during the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
Mexico City, the nation's capital and one of the world's largest cities, has a population of 20 million. It is also a financial center and has 500 universities and many research institutions. The city has made significant investment in public transportation, climate control and security infrastructure.
