Highway traffic suspended after ethanol spill

HOHHOT - Some 30 tonnes of high concentration ethanol was spilled on a highway in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region after the tanker carrying the chemical overturned Friday morning.

Police confirmed that three people on board the vehicle were injured in the accident which occurred at about 8 am Friday on the provincial highway in Horqin in the east of the region. Ethanol was spilled on the road for about 200 meters.

Three fire engines have been sent to the spot in fire prevention. Traffic police have cordoned off the area. An investigation into the accident is underway.
