Car crash kills 9 in SW China

CHENGDU - Nine people were killed and one injured in a car crash late Thursday in Southwest China's Sichuan province, local authorities said.

The accident happened on an expressway in Sichuan at 8:40 pm Thursday when a five-seat microbus from Beijing had a pileup with a truck from Sichuan, according to the provincial safety supervision bureau.

Nine out of the 10 passengers on the microbus died at the scene, and the other was seriously injured.

The injured was rushed to hospital, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
