Chinese forestry investment tops 290b yuan in 2006-2010

BEIJING - China invested 297.9 billion yuan ($45.27 billion) in forestry during the 11th Five-Year period (2006-2010), according to the State Forestry Administration.

The figure was 80 percent more than the previous five-year period.

The investment was mostly directed toward ecological construction, forestry sector reform and improving people's livelihoods.

Of the total, investment in infrastructure totaled 47.9 billion yuan in the period, up 23.13 percent from the previous five years.
