Yang Yi, the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office spokesman, said at a regular press conference that Taiwan compatriots could call the consular protection center of China's Foreign Ministry (phone numbers: 86-10-65963437; 65964085) or the Chinese Embassy to Libya (00218-91-3665110).

"We are very concerned about the situation of compatriots in Libya and what happens to their lives and property. The Chinese government has begun to take action to bring them back," Yang said.

China has urged Libya to take substantial measures to protect its people and other foreign nationals during unrest in the north African country, and to facilitate their evacuation.
