TIANJIN - The largest trash-burning power plant in the country, the Hangu Power plant in North China's coastal city of Tianjin, will begin operating before June, according to the spokesman for the Tianjin Electric Power Corporation.
Located in Binhai New District of Tianjin, the Hangu trash-burning plant with an area of 13.2 hectares is expected to consume 2,000 tonnes of trash daily.
On completion, it will be able to treat 667,000 tonnes of trash and generate 146 million kwh of electricity each year.
The plant has the largest complete sealed trash tank in China, which can keep 20,000 tonnes of trash in storage.
With a highly advantaged incineration system, the emission targets of the Hangu trash-burning power plant meet EU emission standards, the spokesman said.
