URUMQI - Continuous flooding caused by melting snow has led to nearly 100 million yuan in economic losses in Akqi county in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region as of Monday evening, said county officials.

No casualties have yet been reported.

By early Sunday morning, the flood peak of the county's section of the Toxkan River had reached 1520 cubic meters per second, which topped the highest historical point during the same period.

As the temperature has been climbing sharply since April 20, the melting snow quickly caused the Toxkan River to flood.

Rough calculations show that the flood has damaged about 2,700 meters of water diversion channels. It has also threatened the safety of four bridges on the river.
