The National Meteorological Center (NMC) issued a sandstorm blue alert, the lowest level, saying that sandy weather will occur in most parts of North China, and parts of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and provinces of Gansu and Shanxi.
Some areas in those regions will encounter strong sandstorms with strong winds, said the NMC.
The NMC also forecasted that heavy rain, sometimes thunderstorms, would sweep across China's central and eastern provinces and some of the southern provinces during the country's three-day Labor Day holiday starting Saturday.
