Moderate earthquake hits SW China's Sichuan

BEIJING -- An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter Scale hit southwest China's Sichuan Province at 6:48 p.m. Beijing Time Friday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The epicenter, located in the area bordering Dujiangyan city and Wenchuan county in Aba Tibetan-Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, was monitored at 31.3 degrees north latitude and 103.6 degrees east longitude with a depth of about 15 kilometers, the center said.

No casualty has been reported so far.

A 8.0-magnitude quake hit Sichuan on May 12, 2008, leaving 87,000 people dead or missing. Both Dujiangyan and Wenchuan, the epicenter of the quake, suffered great losses three years ago.
