BEIJING - China's southern regions will see strong, lasting rainfall over the coming three days with some parts experiencing thunderstorms and hail, the country' s weather forecast authorities said Friday.

The National Meteorological Center said the rain will cover several areas and will not be short-lived. The center warned of possible floods or other natural disasters as a result of the heavy rains.

The center also said that a weak southbound cold front will sweep eastern China from May 14 to 16.

Northeastern regions of China, including the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, will see temperature drops of 4 to 8 degrees Celsius on Friday, with some areas experiencing drops of 10 degrees, according to the center.

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau region, as well as China's northeastern, western and southern areas will receive slight to moderate rainfall on May 14, with a chance for thunderstorms, the center said.

East Sichuan province and southern coastal areas will also see heavy rains from May 14 to 16, according to the center.
