BEIJING - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Wednesday reaffirmed two countries will maintain an all-weather friendship.

Wen held talks with Gilani at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Wednesday afternoon. They are expected to witness the signing of a number of cooperative documents between the two countries.

Before the close-door talks, Wen hold a welcoming ceremony for Gilani, who arrived in Shanghai Tuesday evening for a four-day visit to China.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said earlier that during Gilani's visit, the two sides will exchange views on deepening bilateral relations, promoting pragmatic cooperation in a wide range of areas and other international and regional issues of common concern.

China and Pakistan have established an all-weather friendship and engaged in well-rounded cooperation, giving each other equal treatment, mutual respect and sincere support, said Jiang.

"We are satisfied with the current state of the China-Pakistan relationship and are confident of its future," Jiang said last week.

"China is willing to take the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties as an opportunity to deepen communication and cooperation with Pakistan and advance bilateral ties to a new level," Jiang added.
