Chengdu Financial City this month was named Most Valuable Financial Ecological Center in 2011. The honors were announced at the China Financial Summit Forum of the China Beijing International Science and Technology Industry Exhibition on May 18.

The Most Valuable Financial Ecological City (District and County) in 2011 was decided by experts and voting on the Internet. The candidates were evaluated on the basis of city core function, land use ratio, improvement of related supporting facilities, investment and financing environment, government strategies, financial service growth capacity, emerging tertiary sector coverage, credibility, social credit systems, credit assets non-performing ratios and estimated loss ratios.

Officials of Chengdu Financial City Investment Development Co Ltd said Chengdu Financial City will be "a financial center in West China with international vision, a 'city' with pastoral landscapes, and a modern financial city integrating the functions of finance, office, living, entertainment, amusement, and cultural facilities."

Chengdu Financial City was established to develop traditional financial industries like banking industry, the insurance industry and securities industry, and emerging financial industries such as investment funds, financing guarantees, and electronic financing. Related service industries such as professional services, industrial services and supporting services also are a part of its mission.

A major focus is on attracting financial and legal professionals and institutions, emerging financial service institutions, financial regulatory bodies, administrative bodies and supporting financial bodies for accounting, auditing and legal services.

Chengdu Financial City already has attracted leading financial regulatory bodies, banks and related firms. Chengdu has welcomed new offices or branches from the China Banking Regulatory Commission's Sichuan branch and the China Insurance Regulatory Commission's Sichuan branch.

Other officials have been established at the financial center by Minsheng Bank and Anbang Insurance, and element transaction markets such as Chengdu Land and Minerals Transactions Center and Chengdu Rural Property Transactions Center. Efforts now are under way to attract China Netcom and Bank of Chengdu to the financial center.
