MACAO - Macao's Central Park will open in the second quarter of next year, with wide range of facilities provided to improve residents' living standard, the Macao Post Daily reported on Tuesday.
The newspaper quoted officials from the city's Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau as saying that the Central Park, located on Macao's Taipa Island, will cover a total area of 28,000 square meters.
The construction began in September 2009 and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year. The park will have an artificial lake that can be used as a swimming pool in the summer, walking trails, jogging tracks, pet areas, a children's playground and multi-purpose pitch for ball games, according to Lao Chan Chong, an official of the Bureau.
In addition, the park will house a library which will be run by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and a two-story underground car park. The Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) will be in charge of managing the park.
Lao said the car park will be open to the public this year, prior to the slated opening date of the Central Park, in an effort to ease parking problem in the area.
