HONG KONG - The Center for Food Safety in Hong Kong called on the food trade to immediately stop the use and sale of 23 kinds of fruit syrup and juice, which were produced in Taiwan and might have been contaminated with di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), a plasticizer.

"The center has at once contacted the importer of 12 of such items and noted that it had suspended sale and initiated recall of the products. The Center understands that those 12 items are food ingredients which are solely for supply to the catering industry."
The spokesman added, the center continues to trace the other importer of the rest 11 kinds of fruit syrup and juice to take follow-up actions accordingly.
