XINING - More than 4,000 business people from home and abroad have gathered in Xining, capital of Northwest China's Qinghai province, to attend the annual Qinghai International Carpet Exhibition.
They came from 34 countries and regions around the world.
The four-day fair, which opened Monday, showcases carpets and raw and auxiliary materials as well as spot transactions.
Foreign participants come from world's major handmade carpets producing countries such as India, Pakistan, Nepal, Iran, Turkey also join the fair to promote their products.
Carpet transaction volume at the fair have increased from 8 million dollars when it was first held in 2004, to 58.6 million dollars in 2010.
The city of Xining is regarded as "the capital of the world's Tibetan carpet industry".
The carpet industry on the Tibetan plateau is about 2,000 years old.
China is the world's second largest Tibetan carpet exporter after Nepal.
