HOHHOT - A road accident in north China on Monday resulted in the deaths of two Chinese, as well as injuries for 10 foreigners and their Chinese driver, local safety authorities said Tuesday.
The accident happened at 1:31 pm Monday in the city of Erenhot in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, safety authorities said in a statement.
Two Chinese died at the scene when their car collided head-on with a Beijing-registered business van, which was carrying 10 foreigners and a Chinese driver.
The 10 foreigners included three Swiss, two Spaniards and five Mongolians.
One Spaniard was in serious condition while the others, including the driver, suffered minor injuries, according to the statement.
Five senior doctors from the Affiliated Hospital of the Inner Mongolia Medical College were rushed to Erenhot, about 380 km north to the regional capital city of Hohhot, to provide medical treatment.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.
