Han made the remarks while addressing at the 37th Session of Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) Conference which focused on the protection of women's rights and interests.
The Chinese minister also made some proposals to the international community on advancing the rights and interests of rural women.
First of all, principles of gender equality should be adhered, he said. Efforts should be made to advocate the respect for women, to eliminate all laws and regulations that infringe women's rights and interests.
Gender discrimination should be eliminated, particularly in employment, Han said.
Secondly, technical training and financial support policies should be developed to make more funds, information and training available for rural women, he said.
Education is also crucial for rights and interests of rural women, Han said. "Efforts should be intensified to improve school conditions in rural areas especially in poverty-stricken areas and raise enrollment of rural girls."
Moreover, Han noted that historical and cultural traditions as well as religious belief of all countries should be respected.
"While human rights are respected, the choice of a country shall also be fully respected when it comes to the exploration of ways to improve women's rights and interests that fit in the reality of the country," he added.
