A total of 65 individuals and companies donated more than 78 million yuan ($12 million) to China Children and Teenagers' Fund at a fundraising event to mark the organization's 30th anniversary in Beijing on Tuesday.
Chen Zhili, director-general of the fund, as well as vice-chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and president of the All-China Women's Federation, called for more public contributions and said the organization will continue to be dedicated to improving the welfare of children and teenagers by adhering to the transparent management and regulated operation.
During the past 30 years, some 12 million children have benefited from projects promoted or held by the fund, such as the Spring Bud Project, the Safe and Health Growth Project, the Orphan Assistance Program and several post-earthquake programs in Sichuan.
