HK women to men ratio drops

HONG KONG -- The ratio of women to men in Hong Kong has further dropped from 1,000 to 912 in 2006 to 1,000 to 881 last year, the Census and Statistics Department said here on Thursday.
The department said there were 3,757,300 women and 3,310,500 men in Hong Kong in 2010, while 41,189 baby girls and 47,306 baby boys were born.
Among the male population, 60.4 percent were married and 34.8 percent were never married, while the figures were 55.1 percent and 30.5 percent among the female population.
Of the males aged 15 and over, 81.2 percent have attended secondary education and above, while the figure was 74.7 percent for females.
There were 1,940,900 men and 1,712,800 women in the labor force, with 50,900 (2.6 percent) men and 23,900 women (1.4 percent) underemployed. There were 99,800 men (5.1 percent) and 61,400 women (3.6 percent) unemployed, said the report.
