BEIJING - China's meteorological authorities on Tuesday said heavy rains are expected to sweep the country's southern and southeastern regions over the next three days.

Hainan Province and northern parts of Guangdong Province will see strong rains on Tuesday, receiving as much as 90 mm of precipitation, according to the National Meteorological Center (NMC).

Some regions in Jiangxi and Fujian provinces will experience strong rainfall starting Wednesday, the NMC said.

Meanwhile, heavy fog will blanket parts of central and eastern China on Tuesday. Visibility in some parts of Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui and Yunnan provinces as well as the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region will be reduced to less than 1 km, the NMC said.

A cold front is expected to hit northern China over the next three days. Temperatures in northeastern parts of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and other areas will drop by as much as 10 degrees Celsius, with some regions seeing strong winds, the NMC added.
