About 85.2 percent of Chinese women are satisfied with their status in the family, the China News Service reported Friday quoting a survey based on the responses of 105,573 women aged 18 and above throughout the country.
Song Xiuyan, vice-president of All-China Women's Federation, released the figure during a briefing for the third survey on Chinese women’s social status on a press conference Friday held by State Council Information Office of China in Beijing.
However, about 24.7 percent of women have experienced domestic abuse, according to Xinhua's report quoting the survey.
The survey also showed that only 37.9 percent of women own property including co-ownership with their husbands.
But when it comes to housework, 72.7 percent of married respondents believe women do more than the husband.
