BEIJING - More than 31,000 grassroots mediation organizations have been established across China, and they have resolved over 400,000 disputes so far this year, China's justice minister said at a meeting of judicial officials that concluded Friday.
In the January-November period this year, all levels of judicial and administrative organs and grassroots mediation organizations resolved more than 7 million disputes, and 96 percent of the cases were successfully mediated, according to Minister of Justice Wu Aiying.
Wu also called for greater efforts in 2012 to coordinate grassroots mediation with judicial and administrative mediation, and give full play to the basic role of grassroots mediation in settling social conflicts and disputes.
