Topic: China-Japan disputes over East China Sea
Q:What are the major disputes between China and Japan over the East China Sea? Have the two countries reached any consensus?
A: Japan and China have disputes over the sovereignty of the Diaoyu Islands, continental shelf delimitation and the exclusive economic zone. China has indisputable sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands which have been an inherent part of China since ancient times.
The two countries continue to talk through the different opinions over sea borders; I believe the two sides will finally reach an acceptable deal on these issues under the guideline of the international law and international practice.
The two countries have agreed on the Fishing Pact, the principles on the East China Sea and making the East China Sea a sea of peace.
